Donna I. Beers

August 28, 1929 ~ June 9, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old


                Donna I. Beers, 86, a resident of The Caring Place in Franklin, formerly of Rockland, went home to be with the Lord Thursday night, June 9, 2016 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. 

                She was born in Oil City on August 28, 1929 to the late Harry and Grace (Oakes) Carson. 

                Donna attended Cranberry High School. 

                She was a dedicated member of the Oil City Wesleyan Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for forty years, as well as served as a song leader. 

                Mrs. Beers was a volunteer at the Thrift Shop in Franklin that helps to benefit various charities. 

                Donna enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking, as well as spending time with her loving family.  She will be missed by her family and friends.  She was known to be a caring friend to all. 

                 She held a commercial driver's licenses and drove and taxied for Baker's Transportation for twenty years. 

                She was married in Aberdeen, Maryland on November 7, 1945 to Braden L. Beers, and he preceded her in death in 2000.

                Surviving are eight children:  Kandy Beers of Franklin, Manuel Beers of Franklin, Patsy Bell and her husband Mike of Rockland, Russ Beers of Rockland, Stephen Beers and his wife Catherine of Rockland, Donna Aaron and her husband Randy of Rockland, Kristy Cross and her husband Tom of Rockland, and Suzette Beers of Rockland; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

                Also surviving is a brother, Paul Carson and his wife Laura of Oil City; two sisters, Gaynell Harkless and her husband Norman of Seneca, and Grace Beach and her husband Albert of Seneca; a sister-in-law, Faye Peterson and her husband Ed of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

                In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Braden Beers, Jr., a granddaughter, Kelly Beers; a brother, Harry Carson; and a sister, Freda Koontz. 

                Friends will be received Sunday (June 12) from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  A funeral service will be held Monday (June 13) at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry.
