David B. Neely

David B. Neely, 59, Oil City, died surrounded by his family at The Caring Place in Franklin at 9:23 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Oil City on February 4, 1957 to the late Clair W. and Edith (Morrison) Neely.

Dave was a 1975 graduate of Cranberry High School.

He was a member of the SEIU Local #1 Union.

Mr. Neely was of the protestant faith.

Dave enjoyed his work, working outdoors and mowing his yard, gardening, and spending time with his family and grandson.

Mr. Neely was employed in the Hydro Unit at the Pennzoil Refinery in Rouseville until its closing, and for the last eight years he worked in the Hydro Unit at the Sonneborn Refinery in Petrolia.

He was married in Oil City on June 25, 1977 to the former Cindy L. Vogan, and she survives.

Also surviving are two children: Adam D. Neely of Oil City, and Courtney B. Hartle and her husband Daniel of Oil City; a grandson, Braxton David Hartle; a brother, Thomas W. Neely and his wife Melodye of Seneca; and a sister, Nancy Rehberg of Oil City. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Edith Neely.

Friends will be received Friday (Aug. 19) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday (Aug. 20) from noon until 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday (Aug. 20) at 1 p.m. with Pastor James Seeley, interim pastor at Good Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Private interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry.
