Edward L. Stanley

           Edward L. Stanley, 68, of Oil City, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 following a sudden illness.

            Ed was born in Oil City on August 11, 1947 to the late Charles and Mary Ann (Struthers) Stanley.

            He graduated from Oil City High School in 1965 and from the Erie Business College with degrees in finance and banking.

            Employed at various auto dealerships, Ed retired from Northpointe, the Baierl Corporation in Seneca, as the finance director in 2011.

            Sports were Ed's passion; football, golf, Pirates baseball, but nothing compared to Duke University basketball, Durham, North Carolina. Ed served over twenty-five years as a P.I.A.A. basketball official. He was fond of his constant companion, his pet dog, “Sam.”

            Bonnie and Ed were married May 20, 2004. He brought Bonnie flowers on the 20th day of every month for the last twelve years.

            Surviving is his wife, Bonnie Stanley; five daughters, Casey Stanley of Oil City, Beth Fye of Oil City, Erin Rondinelli and her husband Mike of Erie, Kelly Stanley of Erie, and Trisha Phillips and her husband Jeffrey of Hampton, Virginia. Ed's twelve grandchildren include Sofia, Sarah, Kathryn, Jacob, Sierra, A.J., Jimmy, Cheyanne, Ted, Jeffrey, Colin, and Philip.

            He is also survived by his brother, William C. Stanley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Irene M. Stanley of Durham, N. Carolina; very special nieces, Shelly, Lauren, and Emma Stanley; his best friend, Marty Hemmes of Kittanning; and close friends, Ed and Audrey Turner of Oil City, Ron and Jean Earle of Columbus, Ohio, and Antoine and Shannon Garcia of Dayton, Ohio.

            Ed was preceded in death by his parents.

            Friends will be received Monday (June 20) from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday (June 21) at 11 a.m. with Mr. Eric McMann, Ed and Bonnie's nephew, officiating.
