Charles L. "Charlie" Holowell, Jr., 67, of Oil City, died early Saturday morning, April 9, 2016 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following a brief illness.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 23, 1948 to Shirley J. Ferguson Holowell and the late Charles L. Holowell, Sr.

Charlie was a 1966 graduate of Cranberry High School where he was a member of the F.F.A.

He was a former member of the Clarion Rod and Gun Club.

Mr. Holowell attended worship at the Lighthouse of Praise Church in Fertigs.

Charlie enjoyed NASCAR and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was employed for more than thirty years at the Pennzoil Refinery in Rouseville, and most recently with Ergon, West Virginia. He enjoyed his challenging work in the oil industry.

He was married in New York on November 4, 1966 to the former Connie J. Knight, and she survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Shirley J. Holowell, of North Fort Myers, Florida; four daughters: Wendy Flaherty and her husband James, Jackie Stack and her husband Tom, all of Oil City, Denise Irwin and her husband David of Venus, and Kari Simmons and her husband Rick of Houtzdale; ten grandchildren: Jordan Drake, Destiny Ralph, Nathan Stack, Dana Miller, Kyle Stack, Devon Porterfield, Kanaan Irwin, Kaleb Tucker, Kieran Irwin, and Israel Tucker; and ten great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Cathy Hines and her husband Mike and Peggy Bard and her husband Scott, all of Cape Coral, Florida; four brothers, Mike Holowell and his wife Marsha of Springboro, Dave Holowell and his wife Barb of Oil City, Joe Holowell and his wife Kim of Cape Coral, Florida, and Bert Holowell and his wife Dorothy of Indianapolis, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Holowell, Sr.; two great-grandchildren; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doyle and Ruby Knight.

Friends and family will be received Monday (April 11) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday, April 12th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jimmie Turner, pastor at Lighthouse of Praise, officiating.

Interment will follow in Perry Cemetery in Fertigs.
