Alice M. Croyle

June 13, 1936 ~ August 19, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old


            Alice M. Croyle, 80, a resident of The Caring Place in Franklin, formerly of Oil City, was called home to Heaven Friday morning, August 19, 2016 at The Caring Place. 

          She was born to the late Albert and Nora (Stover) Corbett in Karns City on June 13, 1936.

          She was married in Karns City on February 10, 1953 to Rev. George C. Croyle, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1989.

          Since 1955, Alice enjoyed filling the role of a 'pastor's wife.'  At numerous churches she taught Sunday school and served as a youth leader. Even after her husband's passing, she continued to lead church ministries and help in any way that she could. 

          Alice was a member of the Fertigs Church of God of Prophecy. 

          For the past eleven years, Alice was an active resident at The Caring Place in Franklin.  She served as president of resident council, was a member of the peer group which advocated for patient care, led morning devotions, read the announcements, and created bulletin boards in the hallways.  She was often called on to pray with residents and their families, and had the opportunity to bring others to know Christ. 

          Mrs. Croyle was involved with R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), and in 2015 received a community outreach award for her service in the ombudsman program. 

          She enjoyed cooking and  was an avid Steelers football fan.  Every Sunday in football season, she would adorn her black and gold attire and root for Pittsburgh. 

          She is survived by two children, Raymond G. Croyle and his wife Patricia of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Donna M. King and her husband James of Oil City; eight grandchildren, Cori James, Bryan Croyle, Tara Bowser and her husband Jeremy, Steven King and his wife Brittany, Jaime Rutherford and her husband Ben, and Makayla, Andrew, and Ariana King; as well as eleven great-grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

          In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Croyle, Isabelle Croyle, and Catherine Brown. 

          Friends and family will be received Monday (Aug. 22) from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday (Aug. 23) from 10-11 a.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday (Aug. 23) at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Bishop C. Jay Croyle, Alice's nephew, officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Chicora.
