William J. "Bill" Muldoon, 76, of Oil City, died at Butler Memorial Hospital early Friday morning, September 6, 2024.
He was born in Oil City on December 9, 1947 to the late William F. and Helen Marie (Karns) Muldoon.
He was a 1965 graduate of Oil City High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Clarion State College in 1969, and his Master's degree from Westminster College in 1972. He studied Secondary Education/History.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1972.
Bill was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City.
He enjoyed detailing cars, sports cars, dogs, doing yard work, traveling and camping.
Mr. Muldoon began his teaching career at Rocky Grove High School in 1970. In 1983, he moved to Maryland and taught history courses as well as coached various sports at several schools there, retiring in 2013.
He was married in Franklin on June 14, 1980 to Cheryl Ann (Johnston), and she survives.
Also surviving is a brother, Michael Muldoon of Oil City; two sisters, Deanna Caldwell and her husband Jim of Oil City, and Sandra Kunz and her husband Geoff of Reston, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Monday (Sept. 9) from 1 - 2 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, where a committal service will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Josh Botts.
Private interment will follow in Lamey Cemetery near Dempseytown.
