Violet "Jean" Aldrich

Violet Jean Carlson Aldrich, 80, went home to be with Jesus, Her Savior & Lord at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Oil City, Pa. on Monday, May 20, 2024.

Jean leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and a contagious faith in Jesus Christ. She was born on March 27, 1944, the daughter of Arthur and Violet (Young) Carlson, Sr. in Corry, Pa. She graduated from Corry Area High School in 1962.

Jean was the wife of Rev. Larry Aldrich, who survives, and they were blessed with three sons. Kevin Aldrich of Philipsburg, Pa., and Timothy Aldrich and his wife Wendy Aldrich of Sherman, NY., and John Aldrich of Oil City, Pa., and a sister, Barbara Griglack of Englewood, Fl.

She also had 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She had several nieces & nephews as well.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Violet Carlson of Columbus, PA. Also, two great grandchildren .. Allie Mae Henton and Levi Jacob Aldrich, and a brother, Arthur Carlson, Jr.   

Jean was a dedicated employee for four decades with various attorneys across western Pa., as an estate administration paralegal.. Two years after graduation, Larry & Jean were married on March 21, 1964 and joined Larry stationed with the U.S. Navy Norfolk, Va. In 1965, they returned back to Corry and continued to work in Corry until her husband followed the call of God to pastor a church in Martindale, Pa.

Jean was saved from the penalty of her sins in her teenage years. After the choir director preached a salvational message at her church and gave an invitation, Jean responded by going to the altar and repenting of her sins and by faith receiving Jesus Christ into her life as her personal Savior & Lord. Since then, she put Christ first in her life and lived the principles of God’s Word with the assurance that her sins were forgiven and heaven would be hers someday. As a family, we know where she is today.

Jean was well known across Western Penna., as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and an awesome Pastor’s wife. She was known as a wonderful listener, and children’s worker, church pianist/organist, choir director and so many more things. She loved music, singing in the choir, and had a heart for missions whether home or abroad and being a friend to all.

Jean was a fabulous cook and loved baking and had a passion she generously shared with her family and friends. She loved to work outside taking care of the lawn and flowers. She loved her family and always wished they lived closer. She will be greatly missed by many and we will always remember her compassion, determination, faith and her kind, gentle ways. Jean Aldrich will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but also for the light she brought into the lives of those around her. Her passing reminds us to cherish every moment and live life to the fullest.

She taught many life lessons by listening and understanding with her respectful, thoughtful advice. She was very serious about life, work and her Christian journey. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her extraordinary journey.  Well done, Jean!

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 4 - 7 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, and on Thursday May 23 from 10 - 11 a.m.  A funeral service to celebrate Jean's life will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Hart and Rev. T. Christopher Hill, officiating.  Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Columbus, Warren County. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to New Life Community Chapel, 216 Harvey Drive, Seneca, PA  16346.
