Violet Marie (Confer) O’Neil, 91, of Fertigs, went to be with Jesus, in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, January 15, 2021. Violet was born on July 16, 1929 in Sligo, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Minnie (Reese) Confer.
Violet attended Ashland School and Cranberry High School. After that, she worked in laundry at the Oil City Hospital.
Violet was a member of the Fertigs Church of God of Prophecy where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Prayer Band leader, and Women’s Ministry leader. She volunteered and baked for the Pinegrove firehall dinners and the church dinners. She was famous for her homemade pies. She most recently attended the Venus Pilgrim Holiness Church.
For 64 loving years, Violet was married to the late Ronald O’Neil. Together they enjoyed spending time with their family at picnics, holiday dinners, and Sunday gatherings.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons: Jerry and Tom O’Neil; her son-in-law Roger Glass; her grandchildren Chad O’Neil, Cristi (Glass) Slike, and Steve Glass; her siblings Myrtle Uhlott (William), Florence Hartsell (Melvin), Peg Ausel (Earl), Mary Bosley (John), Dorothy Caldwell (John), Wilbert Confer (Frances), Anna May Halter (Joe); and her brothers-in-law Clyde O’Neil (Evelyn), Gene O’Neil (Helen), and Melvin O’Neil (Julie).
Surviving are her children; Barb Glass, Pam Lux (Dave), Rick O’Neil (April), Mike O’Neil (Sandy); daughters-in-law Bell O’Neil and Kathy O’Neil; grandchildren Dan Glass, Matt Lux (Mona), Mark Lux (Marlynn), Joel Lux, Traci Hines (Charlie), Melanie Oliver (Jeremy), EffieJo Schiffer (Travis), Robbie Obenrader, Shane O’Neil (Rachel), Kelly O’Neil (Alysha), Megan Yeager (Mitch), Ryan O’Neil, Amanda Daugherty (Dale), Maggie O’Neil (Kirby), Sadie O’Neil-Irvine (Logan), Josie Harkless; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; her brother Melvin “Sonny” Confer (Liz), her sisters-in-law Vonnie Young (Larry) and Delores Hale (Don, deceased); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet had a real relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family will miss her very much and treasure the memories they had with her.
A private funeral service for the immediate family was held in the Venus Pilgrim Holiness Church with the Pastor Josh Peck, officiating. Interment was in Starr Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Hile-Best Funeral Home, Seneca.
