Vincent Assalone Obituary

Vincent E. Assalone, 93, of Kennerdell, passed away and joined his beloved wife in Heaven on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025 at the Parker Personal Care Home, where Vince has resided the past year.

He was born in Weedville, Elk County on September 28, 1931 to the late Carlo and Mary (Bateman) Assalone.

He enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from 1950 through 1954, serving as Military Police.

Vince enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping, NASCAR Sundays, and spending time with his family.  Over the last year, he especially enjoyed watching a pair of eagles in their nest, getting to drive the back roads near Parker while enjoying a milkshake and looking for deer and turkey.

In his earlier years, he worked for Star Drilling in Beaver Falls during the time that the Hoover Dam was being constructed.  He and his wife drove a rig and delivered a pump to the Hoover Dam site.  He also owned and operated the Amoco Service Station in Cranberry Township.

During a three day pass from the Air Force, he married the former Ruth Mae (Ketterer) on June 25, 1952.  They enjoyed 72 wonderful years of marriage together.  Ruth preceded him in death on July 15, 2023.

Vince is survived by two daughters, Holly Hammers and her husband Doug of Kennerdell, and Marcy Cooper and her husband Greg of Fombell; grandson, Donny and Liz Hardisky; granddaughter, Nicole and Zac Jones; grandson, Justin and Abby Cooper; and three great-granddaughters, Hailey, Adriann, and Una Joy.  He is also survived by three sisters, Deloris, Yvonne, and Sherry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber (Hardisky) Lucas; a grandson, Brandon Cooper; and his siblings, Ronnie, Kate, and Bertha.

Friends, family, and neighbors are welcome to attend A Celebration of Vince's Life on Sunday, September 28 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Rockland Township Fire Hall, 995 Pittsville Road in Kennerdell.  Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at 2:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service led by Pastor John Phipps.   A dinner will follow.
