Thomas Flinspach Obituary

             Thomas Allen "Tommy"  Flinspach, 20, of Clintonville, formerly of Rockland, died tragically in a workplace accident on Tuesday morning, August 20, 2019.

            He was born in Clarion on February 28, 1999 to Brian T. and Mary E. (Neiswonger) Flinspach. 

            He graduated from Cranberry High School in 2018.  He completed, with honors, a welding course at the Vo-Tech.  While in school, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football. 

            He was involved with the Venango 4-H Program with both the Seneca Indians and the Ruff Riders.  He, along with his siblings and cousins, were known through 4-H as "The Six Pack." 

            Tommy was an active member of the Rockland Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter, and with the fire police.  He was a member of the Van United Methodist Church. 

            Tommy enjoyed hunting, welding, four-wheeling, joking and laughing with his friends and family, and using Snap Chat on his phone. 

            He was employed as an assistant plant operator at the Scrubgrass Power Plant in Kennerdell. 

            He is survived by his parents, Brian and Mary Flinspach of Rockland; his sisters, Tori Renee Burkhart and her husband Decklan of Franklin, and Tamaria Lynn Flinspach of Rockland; and his girlfriend and love of his life, Brittany Rupert of Clintonville.  Tom had plans to become engaged to Brittany at Christmas time.  He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Linda Flinspach of Tidioute (formerly of Cranberry); his great-grandmother, Adeline Kay of Rocky Grove; his aunts and uncles: Bonnie and Michael Wade of Emlenton, Pamela Hilliard and her significant other Jay Smith of Shippenville, Darcy and Jim Miller of York, Shelley and A.J. McAvoy of Bradford, and Chris and Jillian Flinspach of Pasadena, Maryland. 

            His cousins include Tyler Neiswonger, Tressa Smith and her fiancé Cameron Gilbert and their son, Grayson, Tristin Smith, Noah Miller, Reaghen Miller, Logan Miller, Garrett McAvoy, Gabe McAvoy, Christopher Flinspach, Kia Flinspach, and Illiana Brewer.  He was awaiting the upcoming birth of his cousin, Trevor Smith.  Tommy is also survived by numerous great aunts, great uncles, distant cousins, and many close friends. 

            Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Richard and Florence Neiswonger; his uncle and partner in crime, Dickie Neiswonger, who died July 18, 2019; his paternal great-grandparents, Don and June Flinspach; his paternal great-grandfather, Charles Kay; and his maternal great-grandparents, Harry and Rosie Neiswonger and Dale and Martha Black. 

            Friends will be received Friday (Aug. 23) from 1 - 3 and 6 - 9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  On Saturday (Aug. 24), friends will be received beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Rockland United Methodist Church, 4357 Kennerdell Road, where the funeral service will follow Saturday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Megan Berkebile, church pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rockland Cemetery. 

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockland Volunteer Fire Dept., 995 Pittsville Rd, Kennerdell, PA  16374.
