Ruth Craig Obituary

            Ruth M. Craig, 100, of Meadville, died Tuesday night, May 14, 2024 at Wesbury United Methodist Community, following a period of declining health. 

            She was born in Seneca on September 12, 1923 to the late Charles D. Craig Sr. and Jennie (Perry) Craig. 

            She was the valedictorian of her graduating class from Cranberry High School.  She later graduated from the nursing program at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.  She received her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. 

            She was a member of the Church of the Savior in Shaker Heights, Ohio. 

            In her earlier years, Ruth was an active volunteer in the 4-H program.  She enjoyed traveling, and her favorite place was Scotland. 

            Ruth worked as a nurse at University Hospitals in Cleveland.  She later worked as a nurse and also an instructor in the nursing program at Kent State in Ohio. 

            She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Brandon of Cranberry; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Catherine Lewis, Evelyn West, Lt. Col. Charles Craig Jr. (Retired US Air Force), Doris Imogene Jennings, Elizabeth Hennis, Dr. William Craig, and Richard Craig. 

            There will be no public visitation or service held.  Private interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. 

            Memorial contributions may be made to the local 4-H Program through the Bridge Builders Community Foundation, 1322 Elk Street, Franklin, PA  16323 (write Venango Co. 4-H Fund on the memo line).
