The family of Robert E. King will receive friends on Monday, December 9th, from 11 a.m. until noon at the Fertigs Church of God of Prophecy, 113, Winwood Lane, Venus PA 16364 (off of Camp Coffman Rd.) where a memorial service will be held at noon. A funeral luncheon will follow.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Donald Pflugh, church pastor.
Robert E. "Bob" King, 79, of Venus, died at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca on Sunday afternoon, November 24, 2024.
He was born in Oil City on August 1, 1945, a son of the late John E. and Clea R. (Sharrar) King.
Bob attended Cranberry High School and later finished his education while in the Job Corps, stationed in Portland, Oregon.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Fertigs where he served as a song leader and an usher.
Bob enjoyed hunting, singing, western movies and television shows, especially Gunsmoke. He also enjoyed playing the marble board game with his family.
He was employed at the Oil City Glass Plant, Seneca Hardwood, and also mowed grass for the Heckathorn Cemetery.
He was married in Fertigs on June 15, 1994 to the former Helen L. (Faller) Glass, and she survives.
Also surviving is his brother, James A. King and his wife Donna of Oil City; numerous nieces and nephews, including Steven Jon King of Chicora who was like a son to Bob; and his niece, Barb Hinds and husband Steve of Oil City. Several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also survive, including Mary Amsler and her husband Gene of Venus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Duane A. King (died Nov. 4, 2016); a sister, Karen E. Barr (died December 21, 2021); and an infant brother, Paul E. King (died in 1941).
In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will be no visitation held. A memorial service will be planned and details will be announced when they are finalized.
Interment will be made in the Venus Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fertigs Church of God of Prophecy, 113 Winwood Lane, Venus, PA 16364.
