Rexford "Rex" Knight, 64, of Oil City, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Dade City, Florida on August 18, 1961, a son to the late Taylor and Mary Lou (Winger) Knight.
He attended Cranberry High School. Rex was a member of the P.N.A. Club and the Oil City V.F.W.
Rex enjoyed golfing, playing with his dog, Twix, and his cat, Reese, spending time with his family, and enjoyed spending time with his special neighbor, James Goodman. Rex will be remembered for his sense of humor and his big heart for others.
He worked in the construction field for many years, and was most recently employed by Reck Construction of Oil City.
He was married in The Living Word Church on June 7, 2017 to the former Lori (Anderson), who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amber Oakes of Pittsburgh, and step-daughter, Michelle Anderson of Meadville; a granddaughter, Raquel Knight of Oil City; and a grandson, Nolan Emig of Meadville. Rex is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Judy Knight Harper of Florida, Taylor Floyd "Jim" Knight (Margaret) of Oil City, Dennis Knight (Pam) of Florida, Jerry Knight (Cindy) of Florida, Tad Knight (Penny) of Oil City, and Ruth Biernesser of Fertigs; numerous nieces and nephews including Christie Shumate (David) of Texas, TJ Knight (Amanda) and family of Cranberry, Amanda Knight Matthews (fiancé Michael) and family of Oil City, Sara Boye (Chad) and family of Oil City, Jen Griebel (Scott) and their family of Oil City, and Brooke Bierneser and her family of Oklahoma; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Eileen Herron of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Taylor and Mary Lou Knight, he was preceded in death by his son, Taylor Robert Knight; sisters, Ona Knight and Betty Knight; and brothers, William Knight and Tom Knight.
Visitation will be held Thursday (Dec. 18) from 3 - 7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday (Dec. 19) at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bud Welton, AseraCare Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Heckathorn Cemetery in Seneca, where he will be laid to rest beside his son, Taylor.
