Raymond "Doug" Hart, 76, of Cranberry, died at Oil City Healthcare on Monday afternoon, August 21, 2023, following an extended illness.
He was born in Franklin on November 28, 1946 to the late Raymond L. and Loranna Hart.
He attended Cranberry schools. Doug served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1968-1969.
He enjoyed having lunch on Thursdays with his buddies. Doug also enjoyed classic cars and his Olds 442. He loved woodworking, hunting, the outdoors, Wheel Horse tractors, and his cocker spaniel dogs. He was a hard working man and cared for his family very much.
After serving during Vietnam, he worked constructions jobs and worked on the I-80 bridge project. He later was employed by Joy Manufacturing, Seneca Hardwood, and retired from Franklin Steel.
He was married in Seneca on November 6, 1970 to the former Millie Clark, and she survives, along with their two children, Tracy Hart of Franklin and Scott Hart and wife Teresa of Cranberry; five grandchildren, Amber, Kayla, Cheyenne, Scotty Jr., and Summer; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy Duignan of Cochranton and Karen Kuhn of Delaware; a brother, Bradley Hart of Seneca; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Shadow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Hart; and an infant brother, Gary Hart.
Visitation will be held Thursday (Aug. 24) from Noon - 2 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, where a funeral service will follow in the funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tom Phillips, pastor of Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating. The V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will accord military honors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell.
