Nancy Jane Allshouse, of Oil City, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at UPMC Northwest Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 77.
Nancy was born on February 11, 1948 in Brookville, Jefferson County. She was the youngest daughter of Paul and Cora McKinney.
Nancy was a 1966 graduate of Brookville High School, specializing with a degree in Business. Following high school, she left western Pennsylvania to work for the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C.
Upon returning, Nancy held numerous positions as a secretary and clerk typist in both Meadville and Oil City. She was also a part-owner, with her husband, of the ShurFine grocery store in Pleasantville. She eventually retired from Wal-Mart in Cranberry as a front end cashier.
Nancy married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, James Allshouse, on May 23, 1969, in Meadville.
Nancy's heart was so big and open, her favorite pastime was taking care of young children, whether it be her own blood, or a strangers. While raising their two children, she also babysat for numerous neighbors and worked at daycare facilities in both Downingtown and Oil City.
Nancy enjoyed cooking, gardening, swimming, playing cards, but most importantly, spending time with her family and friends, both far and near. She was especially proud of her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband James, of 56 years; daughter Julie and husband Mike Bickart of Seven Fields, PA; son James and wife DeAnne Allshouse of West Haven, UT; and grandchildren Matthew and Jessica Bickart, of Seven Fields and Kaylee Allshouse and fiance Jared Midavaine, of West Haven. Other survivors include her sisters, Judy Miller and Donna Stormer, and brother Raymond McKinney, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Dickey, Glenn, Gerald and Stanley McKinney; and a grandson, Tyler Allshouse.
Private funeral services will be held for the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being completed by Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca.
