Michelle C. Lander, 59, of Oil City, passed away at Ashtabula Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon, May 28, 2025, following a lengthy battle with various health issues.
She was born in Brookville on December 17, 1965 to the late Arthur Joseph and Jane Doris (Bauer) Lander.
Michelle was a 1984 graduate of North Clarion High School. She then attended Clarion University. She moved to Lancaster to help her parents manage their quilt shop. Later Michelle moved to Fairfax, Virginia where she worked in the offices of Freddie Mac until she retired and moved to Seneca, PA.
Michelle was of the Catholic faith.
She enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, scrap booking, and card making. She was an animal lover, particularly of cats. The most important thing to Michelle was her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Michelle had a large number of friends. Everywhere she lived, she made lifelong friends that she kept in touch with.
Michelle is survived by her siblings, Christine Snyder and her husband Neely of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Loll and her husband Bernie of Seneca, Patrick Lander and his wife Robin of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Art Lander and his wife Megan of Lancaster; her nieces and nephews: Connor, Lauren, Audrey, and Garrett Snyder, Erica McGuire, Justin Loll, Stuart Lander, and Colleen Snyder; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, close friends, and relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Jane Lander.
Visitation will be held Sunday (June 1) from 6 - 8 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. A funeral service will be celebrated Monday (June 2) in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Rusnak, chaplain at The Caring Place, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lucinda.
