Michael L. Yoder, 71, of Oil City, died Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Thomas Perciak Family Residential Hospice House in Strongsville, Ohio, following a battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Renal Cancer.
He was born in Oil City on March 27, 1953 to the late Arthur and Betty (Dunmire) Yoder.
He was a 1972 graduate of Cranberry High School.
Mike enjoyed family picnics, campfires, cars, woodworking, History television, and traveling. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mike enjoyed attending the activities, concerts, and shows that his grandchildren were involved in; and was a mentor to his grandson while he earned his Eagle Scout award.
He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for 31 years, working as a heavy equipment operator. Following that, Mike worked for seven years doing maintenance work at the Seneca Woods apartment complex.
He was married in Oil City on March 16, 1974 to the former Sue A. (Best), and she survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together this year.
Also surviving are two children: Michael Yoder and his wife Lindsey of Oil City and Melissa Riley and her husband Christopher of Oil City; two grandchildren, Garrett and Kara Riley of Oil City; and his sister, Caroline George of Oil City.
Mike is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Clinton Best of New York City and Richard Best and wife Christine of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Patricia Settlemire and her companion Bill Gibson of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Yoder; a sister-in-law, Debbie Yoder; two brothers-in-law, James Best and Alfred George; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clinton and Donna Best.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, November 7th at 11 a.m. in the First Church of God, 11 East 8th Street (top of Central Ave.) in Oil City, where a memorial service will follow at 12 noon. Rev. Brenda Snedden, church pastor, will officiate.
Mike’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Aristocrat Berea Nursing Home in Berea, Ohio, where he resided for the past ten months, especially to his nurses, Tina and Mary.
