Michael Duane Ruth

               Michael Duane Ruth, 65, of Oil City, died early Saturday morning, June 15, 2024 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

                He was born November 30, 1958 in Clarion to Dorothy E. Whitehill of Franklin and the late Arthur D. Ruth. 

                He was a graduate of Cranberry High School. 

                Mike enjoyed bowling, playing softball, shooting pool, hunting, and watching his grandkids' sporting events. 

                Mr. Ruth was employed as a foundry worker at Hegedus Aluminum Industries near Dempseytown. 

                He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Whitehill of Franklin; his significant other, Karen Mellring; three children:  Jennifer King and her husband JD of Franklin, Devin Stephens of Oil City, and Ashley Cale and her husband Jeffery of Dravosburg; and three step-children: Sarah Mellring, Timothy Mellring, and Nicole Gahring and her husband Merle of Franklin.  Mike is survived by three grandchildren, Ian Higley, Callie Higley, and Easton King of Franklin; and six step-grandchildren, Mazie and Emilee Mellring, Maura and Reed Johnson, Journey Ritchey, and Harper Horne. 

                He is also survived by three brothers, Tony, Rodney, and Tom Ruth; a sister, Jean Pascorell; several nephews, a niece; and many aunts and uncles. 

                He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Ruth; and a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Pascorell. 

                Visitation will be held Wednesday (June 19) from 5 - 7 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca.  A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor David McVay, officiating.
