Mark A. Burgdorfer, Jr.

          Mark A. Burgdorfer, Jr., 31, of Oil City, died at his home Friday, December 13, 2019 at 9:00 pm, following a brief battle with cancer. 

          He was born in Oil City on July 14, 1988 to Mark A. Burgdorfer and Deborah S. (Stone) Burgdorfer. 

          Mark graduated from Oil City High School, and later earned a Master's Degree as a registered dietitian from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.  He also studied at the University of Mississippi and the University of Guelph in Canada.

          He enjoyed traveling and moving around frequently, never staying too long in one place; he enjoyed exploring new areas.  Mark enjoyed working on theatrical productions in high school and at the Barrow Civic Theater in Franklin. 

          He was most recently employed as the director of the dietary department at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi, New York. 

          Mark enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, 'Zoe.'  He loved his job, and working with his patients.  

          He is survived by his mother, Deborah Burgdorfer of Oil City; his father, Mark Burgdorfer of Rousville; his sister, Melissa Burgdorfer of Oil City; and his grandparents, Herman and Hazel Burgdorfer of Venus. 

          Also surviving are his aunts, Patricia McClelland and her husband Robert of Oil City, and Cathy Voit and her husband David of Oil City; an uncle, David Burgdorfer of Shippenville; and many cousins. 

          Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Ella Stone; and his great-grandmothers, Amelia Bell and Alma Sandrock; and a great-grandfather, Jack Sandrock.   

          Friends will be received Tuesday (Dec. 17th) from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Wednesday (Dec. 18th) from 11 a.m. until noon in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca.  A memorial service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at noon with Rev. Rick Kightlinger, officiating.
