Louise Sheatz Obituary

                Louise C. Sheatz, 92, of Cranberry, died early Monday morning, October 28, 2024 at The Collins House in Rocky Grove, following a period of declining health. 

                She was born in Oil City on February 3, 1932 to the late David and Clara (Ream) Carrier. 

                She was a 1949 graduate of Oil City High School, and later attended Welch's Business School in Oil City.

                Louise was an active volunteer with the area's Meals on Wheels program, as well as a longtime member of the Cranberry United Methodist Church. 

                She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.  Louise enjoyed the trip of a lifetime on a 2013 cruise to the Bahamas with her entire family and her close friend, Jackie Miller. 

                She was employed at Joy Manufacturing, Erie Canteen, worked in the cafeteria at Cranberry Schools, and at the Bon-Ton department store in the Cranberry Mall. 

                She was married on March 23, 1951 to Wayne R. Sheatz, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2011.

                Louise is survived by her two sons, David W. Sheatz and his wife Zoe of Seneca, and James D. Sheatz and his wife Shirley of Rocky Grove; and a son-in-law, Dr. Edward Hollander of Greensboro, North Carolina; six grandchildren: Richard W. Donaldson of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jared Sheatz and wife Megan of Pittsburgh, Chantel Miller and husband Nate of Franklin, Audra Shontz and husband Brian of Sandy Lake, William Sheatz of Oil City, and Susan Sheatz of Seneca; and seven great-grandchildren: Lincoln and Ensley Shontz, Oskar and Juliette Sheatz, and Brielle, Clark, and Blair Miller. 

                Louise is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Sheatz of Seneca; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

                In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan (Sheatz) Hollander; a brother, James Carrier; and a sister, Betty Jane Williams. 

                A visitation will be held Wednesday (October 30) from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Cranberry United Methodist Church, 7212 US 322 in Cranberry.  A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church, with Rev. Tom Phillips, officiating.  Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry. 

                The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to UPMC Northwest Hospital, Dr. Susen Rossino, and the Collins Hospice House for their care and compassion, as well as Louise's caretakers, Ashyrah, Pam, and Melissa. 

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, or to the V.N.A. Foundation (Hospice).
