Judith M. "Judi" Wenner, 77, of Mercer, formerly of Rockland, died at her home on Sunday night, August 20, 2023, surrounded by her family, following an extended illness.
She was born in Oil City on May 20, 1946 to the late Joseph and Edith (Robins) Curran.
She was a 1964 graduate of Venango Catholic High School and a 1967 graduate of Spencer School of Nursing in Meadville.
Through the years, Judi enjoyed membership in the Clarion Rod & Gun Club, Knox American Legion, and the Rockland Sportsman's Club.
Judi enjoyed field trials, shooting competitions, gardening, swimming, football, children, birds, animals, hunting, and sitting around a campfire. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved them all very much.
Her first job was working for Welker's Department Store in Oil City in 1962-63. After earning her degree in Nursing, she was employed by the Oil City Hospital (1967-69), The Franklin Hospital (1969-81), and the Venango County V.N.A. (1981-98). She also owned and operated, along with her husband, Gary's Grocery and Sport Shop at the Rockland corners from 1984-2003.
Judi was married in Our Lady of Christians Church in Oil City on January 13, 1968 to Gary L. Wenner, and he preceded her in death on February 4, 2017.
Surviving are two children, Gerald L. Wenner and his wife Gina, and Jill M. Bradley and her husband A. Scott, all of Mercer; seven grandchildren: Devlin Tenney, Gavin and Savannah Wenner, Hannah Staub (Tim), Danielle Sayti (Carl), and Wendy and Noah Bradley; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Combs, Sterling Sayti, and Salix and Derrick Tenney.
Judi is also survived by two brothers, Patrick Curran (Cindy) and Jerold Curran (Julie); a sister-in-law Jennifer Curran; brother-in-law Roger Wenner (Sabrina); sister-in-law Marilyn Ritts; sister-in-law Trudy Hunsberger (Terry); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Joseph, and John Curran; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Curran.
A private service with interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell.
Private funeral arrangements are being completed by Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Mercer or Venango County.
