Judith L. “Judy” Ziegler, 80, of Seneca, died at Oakwood Heights in Oil City Saturday morning, July 8, 2023 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Oil City on September 4, 1942 to the late Quincy and Edna (Redman) Smith.
She was a 1960 graduate of Cranberry High School.
Judy was a longtime active member of Seneca United Methodist Church where she attended Bible Study, participated in the Blanket Ministry, and volunteered with the Cranberry Area Food Pantry.
Judy enjoyed puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities, swimming, and Elvis music. Just last year, she was able to make a trip to Graceland. She enjoyed traveling and organized and went on many bus trips to New York City and Lancaster.
In her earlier years, she worked in the cafeteria for the Oil City school district. Judy worked as a receptionist for many years at the Oil City YMCA.
She was married in the Van United Methodist Church on November 2, 1963 to Fred A. Ziegler, and he survives.
Also surviving are their three sons: Gregg Ziegler and his wife Betty of Canfield, Ohio, Scott Ziegler and his wife Marci of Franklin, and Bryan Ziegler and his wife Wendi of Seneca; six grandchildren, Kassie Ludwig and husband Ethan, Kevin Ziegler and wife Katie, Ashlyn Ziegler and fiancé Ben Restauri, Cael Ziegler, Kelsey Ziegler, and Kalynne Ziegler; and five great-grandchildren.
Judy is also survived by her sister, Marcia Slye and her husband Jim of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Michelle Hoovler of Oil City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Jami Slye Gahr; and her in-laws, Lloyd and Ruth Ziegler.
Visitation will be held Monday (July 10) from 5 - 8 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (July 11) at 2 p.m. with Pastor David McVay, officiating. Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry.
