Jonathan Ronald Shaffer, 52, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at his home in Central Square, New York on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
He was born November 2, 1972 in Franklin, Pennsylvania to Ronald and Sandra (Heeter) Shaffer.
Jon was a 1992 graduate of Cranberry High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as a Signal Systems Support Specialist from 1992 until 1998. He worked as a Maintenance Technician for Time Warner/Spectrum for 20 years.
Jon was devoted to his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, lifetime member of NRA, and enjoyed camping and celebrating holidays and events with family and friends.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, of 18 years. Also surviving are his adult children and their partners: Jonathan Shaffer Jr. (Kayla), Chelsie (Aidan) Davoren, and Amber Shaffer (C.J.) and his children at home: Kayliann, Hunter and Lily; his grandchildren, Brynlee Soulier and Lochlan Davoren also survive. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Shaffer, his maternal grandmother, Allene Heeter, his brother Jason (Angela) Shaffer, and sister Jamie White; his brothers and sisters in law, father-in-law Richard Haynes and his aunts and uncles. His nephews and niece Kylie, Braydon and Ryker Shaffer and Cameron White, along with many cousins and friends.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Ronald C. Shaffer; his maternal grandfather, William (Bill) Heeter; and his mother- in -law, Carol Haynes.
Visitation will be held at Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca on Monday, May 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. with a funeral service following at 3 p.m. Interment with military honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will follow at Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell.
