Mr. John I. Martz, Sr., 86, of North Augusta, South Carolina, husband of the late Blanch Edna “Bunny” Wygant Martz, entered into rest on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Born in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, and a former resident of Venus, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew P. Sr. and Beatrice “Betty” Blum Martz. John and Bunny had made Aiken County, South Carolina their home since 1984. John was a once and forever proud Marine who served his country during the Korean War.
John had formerly been an excavator and a truck driver. He was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and operating heavy equipment.
Additional family members include his boys and their spouses: John, Jr. and Lori Martz; Andrew David and Brenda Leigh Martz; William Edward and Becky Martz and Richard Budd and Dottie Martz; his siblings and their spouses, Andy Martz, Sam and Diane Martz, Bill and Chris, and Merrie Perry and the late Terry Perry, a sister-in-law, Debbie Martz; his grandchildren and their spouses, John, III and Viviana Martz, Joshua and Chrissy Martz, Jaclyn Martz, Christopher Martz, William and Amanda Martz, Kasey Davis and Chad Bowlin; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, David Martz.
Visitation will be held Friday (Nov. 8) from 5 - 7 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday (Nov. 9) from 12:30-1:30 p.m., where the funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Miller, officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will immediately follow in the Rockland Cemetery.
