James J. "J.J." Young, 73, of Emlenton (Rockland Township) died at his residence on Monday morning, June 23, 2025, following an extended illness.
He was born in Dravosburg, Allegheny County on November 19, 1951 to the late Raymond and Mary Young.
He was of the Catholic faith.
J.J. was an avid hunter and fisherman; he even made his own fishing poles and lures. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Erie, and the company of his friends and family.
He was a Union Iron Worker with Local #3 in Pittsburgh and worked in the construction industry for 40 years.
He was married in Erie on July 21, 2017 to the former Susan J. (Garman), and she survives.
Also surviving is his sister, Cathy Young and her husband Bob of West Mifflin; his uncle and aunt Joe and Linda Young of Rockland; his step-son, Adam Hoover and his wife Zee and their four children of Erie; his cousins: JoJo Young of Emlenton, Renea Young of New Castle, and J.P. Young and his wife Kelly of Rockland and their children, Summer Young and husband John, and Colt Young; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Ramsey and her husband Nathan of DuBois.
J.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Young.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Thursday (June 26) from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. Private interment will be made in the Rockland Cemetery.
