James W. Middleton, 85, of Oil City, died at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Oil City on April 21, 1940 to the late Lee and Hazel Irene (Oakes) Middleton.
James served in the U.S. Army from 1958 through 1961.
Mr. Middleton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City.
He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and reloading ammunition.
He was employed as an engineer with GTE Telephone Company for many years.
Surviving are his children: Jim Middleton and his wife Amy, Lisa Myers and her husband Jody, Dave Middleton and his wife Ricki, Cindy Konetsky, and Carol Wilson and her husband Scott; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew, Jackie Middleton and his wife Theresa; a niece, M. Deborah Wolbert; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Middleton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl O'Neil; his brothers: Lee Middleton Jr., Archie Middleton, Glenn "Jack" Middleton, Raymond Middleton, and Ronald Middleton; his sister, Helen Virginia "Sis" Middleton; and his former spouse, Clara Elizabeth Middleton.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or service held.
