Helen "Jean" Black Obituary

                Helen "Jean" Black, 91, of Seneca, died at her home on Sunday morning, April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. 

                She was born in Oil City on May 17, 1933 to the late James J. and Martina Marie (Schill) Fasenmyer. 

                Jean enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing word-searches, and spending time with her family.  She retired from the custodial department at Cranberry School District in 1995.

                She was married in St. Stephen Catholic Church in Oil City on August 10, 1957 to William E. Black, Sr., and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1974.

                Jean is survived by two children, William E. Black Jr. and his wife Jackie of Seneca, and Tamra Black and her significant other Justin Wigren of Seneca; her grandchildren: Nathan Black, Arik Black, Samuel Black-Wigren, Alden Black, and Alexander Black; and a step-grandson, Travis Miller and his wife Becky, all of Seneca; and two step-great-grandchildren, Syrus and Liara Miller of Seneca. 

                She is also survived by her sister, Judy Buckholtz of Seneca; a sister-in-law, Carol Helmbrecht of West Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and Godson, Terry Caldwell of Erie.

                In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lea Black who died on July 6, 1980; and her siblings: Rita Caldwell, Doris Fry, Henry "Bud" Fasenmyer, Leroy Fasenmyer, and Bernard "Bonnie" Fasenmyer. 

                At Jean's request, there will be no public visitation or service held.  Private interment will be made in St. Michael Cemetery in Fryburg at the convenience of the family. 

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 1645 West 8th St. Erie, PA 16505; or to the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 272, Seneca, PA  16346.
