George Russell “Russ” McConnell, 83, of Franklin, died Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at The Caring Place in Franklin.
He was born in Bradford, McKean County on September 18, 1935.
Mr. McConnell proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 through 1961.
Russ enjoyed NASCAR, Steelers football, classic cars, the companionship of his cat, 'Athena,' and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was employed for many years as a truck driver with Klapec Trucking in Reno.
Russ is survived by three daughters: Wendy Black and her husband Benjamin of South Carolina, Jennifer Sandrock and her husband Christopher of Seneca, and Ashley Hernandez and her husband Antonio of Florida; two children from a previous marriage, Beth and Michael McConnell; and eight grandchildren: Brianna and Caitlin Black, Natalie, Alayna, and McKenzie Sandrock, and Keagan, Kaden, and Konner Holes. Also surviving is his sister, “Sis” Howard of Erie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jake and Ralph McConnell.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday (Oct. 23rd) from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
