Ellen McVay Testerman

            Ellen Winkler McVay Testerman, 89, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 11, 2025 at Sugarcreek Care Center with her family by her side, after living a happy life. 

            She was born August 8, 1935 in Allison Park.  She was a daughter of the late Clarence Winkler and the late Mildred Grubbs Burns.

            She married Eugene L. McVay on June 13, 1952.  He preceded her in death on July 17, 1985.  They had six children: Irene (Ronald) Troup of Franklin, Ellen Elaine (Robert) Green of Oil City, James (Pam) McVay of Franklin, Marilyn (Bob) Page of Utica, Carol McVay of Polk, and Eugene L. McVay Jr. 

            She later married Thomas Testerman, who preceded her in death on September 26, 2004. 

            Ellen loved her family and enjoyed hosting big family dinners.  She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and going to the Franklin VFW to listen to the bands play.  She always wore a smile, and truly loved the Lord. 

            She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Heckathorn of Seneca and Catherine Walter of Franklin; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

            In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter Marilyn Page; a son Eugene L. McVay Jr.; a granddaughter Rainey Sheatz; a grandson Jeremiah Sheatz; and a grandson Jered McVay; and her siblings: Martha Muscato, Thelma Muscato, Clarence "Red" Winkler, Marvin Winkler, Howard Winkler, Hazel Reash, Lorelei Votquenne, and Nancy Winkler. 

            Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday (Feb. 13) from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Friday (Feb. 14) from 10 - 11 a.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David McVay, officiating.  Interment will be made beside her first husband in the Rockland Cemetery.
