David E. Weingard, 83, of Seneca, died at UPMC Northwest in Seneca early on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, following an extended illness.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 12, 1941 to Dorothy (Watson) Weingard and the late Walter Weingard.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for eight years. He was stationed in Germany and France.
Dave enjoyed watching Fox News and church services on television. He was of the Methodist faith. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and working outside in his yard and splitting firewood. He had a fun and unique sense of humor and will be missed by many.
In his earlier years, he worked in the maintenance department at Penn Crest School District. He was employed as a truck driver for fifty years and drove over 5 million miles during his career.
He was married on June 3, 1967 to Debra J. (Stahlman), and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2011.
Surviving is his mother, Dorothy Weingard of Oil City; a daughter, Kristy Wulfert and her husband Rick of Parker; a step-son, Troy Stahlman and his wife Vonnie of Seneca; five grandchildren: Valerie Bodien, Gaines Stahlman, and Duncan, Debilea, and Draven Chapel; and a great-grandson, Conner Stahlman.
Dave is also survived by three sisters, Joyce Blest, Faye Swartzfager, and Vickie Dunkle; a brother, Frank Weingard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Stahlman II; a sister, Penny Lawrence; and a brother, Clyde Weingard.
Visitation will be held on Friday (July 19) from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday (July 20) at 10 a.m. with Pastor Frank Weingard, Dave's brother, officiating. Interment will follow in Heckathorn Cemetery in Seneca.
