Darrell Baughman Obituary

Darrell L. Baughman, 69, of Franklin, passed away at his home on Monday, April 8, 2019, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 7, 1949 in Franklin to Hazel J. (Cramer) Baughman and the late Oren "Jack" C. Baughman, Jr.

Darrell attended Franklin High School, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1966, at the age of seventeen.  He served a seventeen month tour in Vietnam, as a member of his unit's reconnaissance platoon.  He was a Purple Heart recipient.  He also received a Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republicans of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Marksman Badge.  After being honorably discharged in 1969 with the rank of Sergeant, he went on to work at Franklin Steel, later Franklin Industries, retiring in 2011, following 41 years of service.

Darrell's greatest accomplishments were his two sons, whom he was very proud of.  He was also very proud to be the Grandpa of his two beautiful granddaughters, whom he adored more than anything.  After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddy, Rick Baker.

Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Eric Lee Baughman of Sandford, North Carolina, and Oren Richard Baughman and his wife Sarah, of Franklin; his two granddaughters, Ryleigh and Brynna Baughman, both of Franklin; his friend, Pamela Baughman of Oil City; his mother, Hazel Baughman of Franklin; his sisters, Linda McQuiston and husband Kenny of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Elaine Shaw and her husband Warren of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrell has taken his final journey home to be reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death: his father, Oren "Jack" Baughman, Jr.; and his brother, David Baughman.

A private memorial service with military honors will be held for the immediate family.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA  16335.
