Dallice Agnew, Jr. Obituary

Dallice Lyle Agnew, Jr., of Rockland, passed on Monday, August 25th, 2025 at home. He was born June 29, 1949, in Portsmouth, Virginia, son of the late Dallice Lyle Agnew, Sr. and Helen Marie Snyder.

Dal graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1968. While in school, he participated in basketball and track and field. He then attended Pittsburgh Electronics Institute and received an associate degree in electronics. He often rode his motorcycle to classes in Pittsburgh even when the weather was less than desirable.

Dallice was married in Rockland on November 29, 1974, to the former Dixie Lee Cox. They quietly marked 50 years of marriage last year.

As a youth, Dal was active in scouting and received his Eagle Scout award. He played softball for a number of well known teams in his younger years. He worked as a draftsman at CPT until its closing, then went on to retire from Joy Manufacturing where he worked in the engineering department.

Dallice was a true outdoorsman, quiet and inspired by nature. Those wishing to seek him out for advice knew he could be found somewhere on his beloved farm. Whether he was splitting wood, mowing grass, tending his gardens, or tinkering in his shop, Dal was well known as a problem solver and jack of all trades. He was also a hunter and avid fisherman. His family marveled at his fish filleting skills and no one ever wanted to miss his fish fries.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Dixie, are ‘his girls’ Sabrina McCormick (Chris) of Cranberry and Rachel Agnew of Reno and his three grandsons Zander Dallice Gregory, Wyatt David Gregory, and Tucker Paul McCormick. Also surviving is his brother Terry (Linda) Agnew, brothers and sisters-in-law Candy Connor, Diane (John) Miller, and David (Janet) Cox, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallice and Helen, his in-laws Lester and Ola Cox, an infant sister Linda Agnew, a sister-in-law Kathy Agnew, and a brother-in-law Jack Connor.

As we mourn the loss of Dallice, we will always appreciate the many lessons he shared with us throughout his life......work hard and with precision, enjoy nature in all its forms, silence can be golden, listening is an art, you are more observant when you slow down, you can survive without a cell phone, and a campfire is always a good idea. We love you, Dad.

At his request, there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca.  In lieu of flowers, as Dal was always a steward of the forest, if you would like to plant a tree in his honor, that option is available to you. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to AsceraCare Hospice for their care and support of Dallice in his final weeks.
