Charles Jackson Fry, 82, of Franklin (Cranberry Township), died peacefully of natural causes at his residence on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
He was born in Oil City on December 10, 1942; a son to the late Charles Lee and Mabel Jane (Bliss) Fry.
He was a 1960 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Fry served in the United States Navy as an engine room chief on a submarine.
He was a member of the Allegheny Jeepers Club, where he enjoyed running off-road vehicles. He was also a member of the Rouseville Aviation Troop where he flew his model airplanes. Mr. Fry served on the Venango Regatta Committee and was a member of the American Power Boat Association, and loved to race watercraft. In his earlier years, he was involved with the Explorer Scouts, Oil City Area Jaycees Club, and the Phoenix of Oil City.
Charles was a member of the Rouseville United Methodist Church and had most recently been attending the Grace Baptist Church in Seneca.
He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved hunting, fishing, and boating.
Mr. Fry was employed as a sheet metal worker for ConAir in Franklin, retiring in 1997 following 27 years of service.
He was married in the Calvary United Brethren Church in Oil City on July 15, 1967 to the former Kathleen R. (Moore), and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2021.
Surviving are his son, Charles Jackson Lee Fry and his fiancé Jona Mrozek of Grove City; his daughter, Charlayne Reneee Osborn and her husband Rev. Robert Osborn of Escondido, California; four grandchildren: Charles Murry Himmelein and Monica Sinclair Himmelein, both of North Carolina, Caleb Louis Osborn of Escondido, CA, and Isaac Vaughn Osborn of Bethlehem, PA; and three great- grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sister, Jacqueline Fry Chickerella of Pittsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Fry and Mary Ellen Fry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lee Fry and Cary Bruce Fry.
Private funeral arrangements are being completed by Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca.
A memorial celebration is being planned by his family for a later date.
