Carol M. Swartzfager, 83, of Seneca, passed away Monday morning June 9, 2025 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Carol was born in Clintonville on August 4, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Elsie Young Heeter. She was a long time member of the Nicklin United Methodist Church and had been employed as a cashier at Riverside Market in Oil City. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and the company of her sheltie, “Butch.”
Carol was married to Ernie Swartzfager June 19, 1982 at the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church. Mr. Swartzfager preceded her in death on December 7, 2020.
She is survived by her son William “Bill” Phillippi of Knox; a son-in-law, David L. Waters of Cranberry; two step daughters, Rebecca Rankin and Wendy M. Tate, both of Franklin; one step son, Richard “Rick” Swartzfager and his wife Belinda of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; her grandchildren, Thomas Phillippi and his wife Kayla and Jessi Phillippi, both of Nickleville; her step grandchildren, Shaniqua Law of Alexandria, VA, Preston Morgan and Vivian Morgan, both of Franklin, Theresa Fernandez and her husband Mychal of Torrance, CA, Heather DeMauro and husband Andy of Avondale, AZ, David Swartzfager Jr., Samuel Swartzfager, Garrett Swartzfager, and a step daughter-in-law, Brandy Swartzfager, all of Michigan; two great grandchildren, Braxton and Mayleigh, two great step grandchildren, Jaxon and Noah, a very special friend, Tracy Rivers, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia K. Waters, an infant grandson, William Phillippi Jr., a sister, Patricia, a step son, David Swartzfager, a daughter-in-law, Elista Phillippi, and a step grandson, Michael Waters.
Friends will be received at the Hile – Best Funeral Home, 2781 Route 257, Seneca, Cranberry Township, from 11am – 1pm and 5 – 7pm on Wednesday. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Giles Bailey Jr., pastor of the Nicklin United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Nicklin Cemetery.
