Bruce B. "Pops" "Hitch" Hitchcock, Sr., 62, of Kennerdell, died on Friday, July 23, 2021 as a result of a tree-trimming accident.
He was born in Warren, Ohio on September 5, 1958 to the late Donovan and Ruth (Haswell) Hitchcock.
He was a 1976 graduate of Lakeview High School in Cortland, Ohio.
Bruce was a lifetime member of the Cortland Moose Lodge.
The most important thing in Bruce's life was his family, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding his Harley. During the summer months Bruce could be found around the campfire at his camp near the river in St. George. He spent the winter months in Florida.
In his earlier years, he was employed by Atlas Energy as a well tender; he later worked as a truck driver for Knight Transportation. Bruce then became self-employed and worked in the tree trimming and removal business with Bruce & Son Tree Service, retiring in 2020.
He is survived by two children, Brandy Hitchcock of Vienna, Ohio, and Bruce Hitchcock, II of Struthers, Ohio; two grandchildren, Dylan and Dakota Hitchcock of Struthers; his companion, Shana Davis of Kennerdell; several nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Marsha Williams of Fowler, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation held. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at his camp anytime on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
A benefit dinner to assist the family with final expenses will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Cortland Moose Lodge in Ohio.
Mr. Hitchcock was proud to be an organ/tissue donor and he will live on by helping others.
