Betty “Sue” Sheffer, 63, of Cranberry, died late Thursday night, March 30, 2023 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following a courageous battle with leukemia.
She was born in Grove City on October 27, 1959 to the late James and Lucille (Beach) McFarland.
Sue attended schools in Franklin and Cranberry.
When her children were younger, she was active with the Rockland Elementary Home and School program.
Sue enjoyed gardening, making desserts and sweets, spending time with her family and her dog “Chica.”
She was employed by Walmart in Cranberry and also worked in the cafeteria for Cranberry School District.
Sue was married in Hill City United Methodist Church on December 31, 1982 to Larry D. Sheffer, and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David L. Reddinger III and his wife Kristy of Cranberry and Zachary D. Sheffer and his wife Ashley of Cranberry; three grandchildren, Chelsea Cross and husband Coston of Rhome, Texas, Katie Hancock of Cranberry, and Joshua Hancock, currently stationed in Guam with the US Air Force.
Sue is also survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley McFarland; a very special friend, Pam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole Reddinger; and her siblings, Bud, Arnold and his wife Pat, and Sis and her husband Fred.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (April 4) from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 p.m. in Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday (Apr. 5) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Travis Earp of The Living Word Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Georgeville Cemetery in Rockland Township.
