Beatrice A. "Bea" Steer, 89, of Venus, passed away Thursday evening, January 8, 2026 at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca, following complications of the flu.
She was born in Venus on April 25, 1936 to the late Austin Sylvester and Ina Lavina (Fox) Faller.
She was a 1953 graduate of Shippenville High School.
Beatrice was of the Christian faith.
She loved her flowers and her flower garden. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and playing board games with her family. She also enjoyed the casino and playing bingo.
She was a dedicated homemaker to her family, raising eight children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Bea was married in Venus on April 13, 1957 to Gene Steer, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2015.
She is survived by six children: Linda Miller (Bob) of Tionesta, Bill Steer of Oil City, Jeanne Steer (Scott) of Frederick, Maryland, Debbie Puz (Darko) of Aurora, Ohio, Cyndi Meddock (Mike) of Oil City, and Michael Steer (Lisa) of New Philadelphia, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren: Scott Miller, Tina Flick, Brett Mills, Steven Tenney Jr., Ben Tenney, Frank Puz, Emma Puz, Joshua Meddock, Jeffrey Francis, Chelsea Estrada, Alex Vredeveld, Mathew Steer, and Nathan Steer; and her great-grandchildren: Isaac and Ava Miller, Izzy and Grace Flick, Aiden and Bella Tenney, Sophie Puz, Kylie, Evelyn, and Elijah Meddock, Ethan and Henry Francis, Zoie and Mathius Estrada, Blake Vredeveld, and Athena Steer.
Also surviving are her siblings, Helen King, Anna Irwin, Jerry Faller, and Mary Amsler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Georgie Steer and Shane Steer; and her siblings: Mildred Sharrar, Dorothy Sharrar, Lavina Mohney, James Faller, John Faller, and Geraldine Faller.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 14) from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jason Peterson of the Atlantic Avenue Church, officiating. Private interment will be made in the Venus Cemetery at a later date.
