Waldo E. “Junior” Haniwalt, Jr., 61, of Bredinsburg Road, Franklin, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Oil City on May 30, 1957; a son to the late Waldo E. Haniwalt, Sr. and Mary C. (Bell) Haniwalt.
Waldo graduated from Cranberry High School in 1975; and then served in the U.S. Army for a brief period.
He was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He was of the Methodist faith.
Junior enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed mowing his yard and spending time with his family, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Haniwalt was formerly employed by Seneca Hardwoods, NorthPointe Automotive, and the Cranberry Wal-Mart.
He is survived by his sister, Bonnie L. Smith and her husband Scott of Seneca; his nieces and nephews: Jody Lucas and her husband Hansel of Brookville, Ryan Smith and his wife Tabitha of Venus, Daniel Shaffer and his wife Stephanie of Taverse, Florida, and Christopher Shaffer and his wife Betsy of Espyville; and his great-nieces and great-nephews: Jordan and Megan Mealy, Haley Lucas, McKaylah, Bradley, Aiyanna, and Heyden Smith, Benjamin Anthony, Mariah and Kali Moore, and Kiarah, Laurieane, Morgan, and Katieanne Shaffer.
Also surviving are his aunt and uncle, Jesse and Don Stover of Titusville; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Waldo and Mary Haniwalt, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Shaffer and her husband Craig; and a great-nephew, Glenn Shaffer.
Friends and family will be received Saturday (Sept. 22nd) from 11 a.m. until 12 noon in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a memorial service will follow Saturday at noon with Rev. Deborah Ackley-Killian, pastor of Heckathorn United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main St., Seneca, PA 16346; or to a charity of one's choice.
