Ronald J. Roser, 79, of Plum Township, Venango County, formerly of Oil City and Seneca, died at 7:35 pm on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Quality Life Services in Grove City.
He was born in Oil City on June 19, 1939 to the late Irvin and Rosalia (Glasstetter) Roser.
He attended Oil City schools.
Ron worked as a truck driver for over thirty-five years, with the majority of his driving career with Lyons Transportation Lines. Following his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively across the United States in their fifth wheel trailer, with their beloved pets, Pixie and Daisy May.
Mr. Roser was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church.
Ron was very active in the Oil City Little League and Senior League while his boys were younger. He coached the Oil City VFW team for many years.
He also enjoyed throwing horseshoes, and bowling; he was very proud to have bowled a 300-game at Seneca Lanes. Ron enjoyed spending time with his three sons, his grandchildren, and his twin great-granddaughters.
He was married in Oil City on August 2, 1958 to the former Margaret “Peggy” Porter, and she survives, his beloved wife of sixty years.
Also surviving are three sons: Michael Roser of San Diego, California, Steven Roser of Seneca, and Scott Roser of Plum Township; four grandchildren: Steven, Baylee, Jacob, and Jordan; two twin great-granddaughters, Madlyn and Rosalie; two brothers, Sam Roser of Seneca, and Daniel Roser and his wife Karen of Titusville; a sister, Cathy Rybak and her husband Greg of Seneca; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Joy Porter of Sanger, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Judy Smith of Reno, Nevada.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvin “Bill” Roser, Jr., Jack Roser, and Richard Roser; and a sister, Barb McFadden.
Friends and family will be received Thursday (Dec. 27) from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (Dec. 28) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Glen VanCise of the Chapmanville Community Church, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
