SERVICE UPDATE: A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rev. Marsha Leigh Mitchell will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the First Church of God, 11 East 8th St. in Oil City. (top of Central Ave. and 8th).
Rev. Marsha Leigh Mitchell, 74, of Oil City, went to be with her Lord and Savior late Tuesday night, November 14, 2017 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Born January 9, 1943 in Titusville, she was a daughter of the late Willis J. and Shirley R. (Disert) Dalton.
Marsha was a graduate of Titusville High School. She graduated from Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia as an X-ray Technologist. She worked at Oil City Hospital and Northwest Medical Center for 25 years as the supervisor of the X-ray Department, retiring in 2006.
Marsha was called into the ministry in 2003. She became an ordained licensed pastor of the Church of God in 2008. Marsha served as senior pastor of St. John's Community Church of God in Meadville for five years.
Marsha enjoyed reading, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family
She was a member of the First Church of God in Oil City, where she served as an Associate Pastor, Leader of Maturity for women, small groups teacher, Mentor of women, leader of Navigator study program, and leader of adult education.
On May 25, 1991, she was married to Barry L. Mitchell in the Trinity Methodist church, and he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William McLaughlin and his wife Anna of South Carolina, a daughter, Christine Siegfried and her husband Erik of Oil City, a daughter, Shannon Newsome of Erie, and a daughter, Cate Fry and her husband Jasen of Oil City; a step-son, Barry A. Mitchell and his wife Lisa of North Carolina, a step-son, Scott Mitchell and his wife Lee Ann of Oregon, and a step-daughter, Jane Kroft of Oil City; 12 grandchildren Alexandra McLaughlin, Harley Hanna, Sonja Masters, Claudia McLaughlin, Grace Siegfried, Allison Fry, Tyler Mitchell, Justin Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Rachael Mitchell, Alisha Kroft and Kayla Kroft; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Thomas Dalton and his wife Barbara of Ridgefield, New Jersey; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Dalton of Mystic, Connecticut.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a younger brother, Bobby Dalton.
Friends and family will be received Friday (Nov. 17th) from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.
