Bobby A. Moon, 79, of Oil City, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.
He was born on November 23, 1938 in Oil City, a son of the late Merle A. and Gladys A. (Beach) Moon.
He attended Oil City High School; and later served eight years in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Moon attended the Hasson Heights Community Church.
Bobby enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, collecting racecars, coins, and stamps, and was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.
He was employed as a meat cutter for twenty-three years for Venturella's Golden Dawn in Oil City. He later worked as a mold maker for Keystone Castings in Rouseville, at Oilwell Supply Company, and retired in 2004 from Cyclops Steel in Titusville.
He was married in Oil City on December 16, 1977 to the former Delores J. Slye, and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2017.
Surviving are two step-children: Dennis Slye of Slippery Rock, and Becky Sue Klapec and her husband Daniel of Oil City; four step-grandchildren: Mandy Kightlinger and husband Michenzie "Mic" of Evans City, Joe Klapec and his wife Sue of Oil City, Shanna Austin and husband Taylor of Butler, and Krystle Slye of Saxonburg; and step-great-grandchildren include: Kaelyn and Cooper Klapec, Addison Kightlinger, Sayge Ottenberg, Ivy Austin, and Riley Barger. Bobby is also survived by two sisters, and a special niece, Roxanne Louden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Thursday (Sept. 20th) at 2 p.m. in the Hasson Heights Community Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Oil City, with Rev. Jamie Fowler, church pastor, officiating.
The Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements.
