Alfred F. George

July 2, 1954 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old


 

                Alfred F. George, 63, of Horsecreek Road, Oil City, died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday afternoon, July 26, 2017, while working around his home. 

                He was born July 2, 1954 in Oil City to the late LeRoy A. George, Sr. and Cecelia F. (Curran) George. 

                He graduated from Oil City High School in 1973 and also studied machinist training at Vo-Tech. 

                Mr. George served in the U.S. Navy for six years, beginning in 1973  through his honorable discharge in 1979.  He was stationed in Adak, Alaska, and crossed the international date line several times. 

                He was a member of the American Legion Post 32 on Riverside Drive, Oil City; and a member of the Plumer Presbyterian Church. 

                Al enjoyed building, construction, and home maintenance projects;  and the companionship of his dog, 'Tyson.'  He was a movie history buff and had an extensive pencil collection. 

                Mr. George was employed as an operator for nearly twenty years with Webco Industries - Oil City Tube Division. 

                He was married in the Rouseville United Methodist Church on February 27, 1993 to the former Caroline R. Yoder, and she survives. 

                Also surviving is his brother, LeRoy A. George, Jr. and his wife Edith of Seneca; his sister, Rachel A. McKinney and her husband David of Grove City; his nieces and nephews:  Bryan George, Leigha Berkey, Joshua and Adam George, Bradley, Andrew, and Keith McKinney, Melissa Riley, and Michael and Dustin Yoder; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Sue Yoder of Oil City. 

                In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth George; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Debbie Yoder. 

                Friends and family will be received Saturday (July 29) from 1-4 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a funeral service will follow Saturday at 4 p.m.  The V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will accord full military honors.  Private interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery in Cranberry.
