Abby was a 1983 graduate of Cranberry High School; and graduated from Clarion University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.  She later earned a master's degree in organizational leadership from Geneva College.

Since 2011, she was employed by the County of Venango as the election coordinator, and also served as the administrative assistant to the County Commissioners.  Prior to that, she had worked for Joy Manufacturing, Matric, Home Depot, and National City/Integra Bank.
