Stacy E. Slater

March 21, 1967 ~ October 16, 2017 (age 50) 50 Years Old


             Stacy E. Slater, 50, of Seneca, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday morning, October 16, 2017 upon his arrival to UPMC Northwest. 

            He was born in Oil City on March 21, 1967 to the late LeRoy E. and Susan Joan (Hart) Slater. 

            Stacy graduated with the Cranberry High School class of 1985.  He also attended Clarion University. 

            Through the years, he enjoyed coaching minor league, girls softball,  and was instrumental in the Cranberry Youth Football program. 

            Mr. Slater was a member of Heckathorn United Methodist Church, and attended the First United Methodist Church in Franklin. 

            Stacy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  He could always be found attending the many various activities, sports, plays, or concerts that his children were involved in.

            He was currently employed as a driver for Cranberry Bus Company and also Clark's Donuts Plus.  He was previously employed at Seneca Hardwoods in Cranberry. 

            Stacy was married in the Heckathorn United Methodist Church on September 23, 1995 to the former Misty J. Flinchbaugh, and she survives, along with their two children: Remington L. Slater and Saige M. Slater, both at home. 

            He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and June Flinchbaugh of Franklin; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kelly and Terry Neidich, Jenny and Troy Cyphert, and Buddy and Kelli Flinchbaugh, all of Franklin, and DiAnne Slater of Seneca; and a large and loving extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins, and close neighbors and friends, especially Lloyd and Shirley Perry of Seneca. 

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan "Butch" Slater. 

            Friends and family will be received Thursday (Oct. 19th) from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (Oct. 20) at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Little, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin, officiating. 

            In honor of Stacy's mother, Susan, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, Dept., P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
