Sandra Lee Shaffer, 64, of Mount Dora, Florida, formerly of Tionesta, died peacefully surrounded by family at 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, following a battle with vascular dementia.  She was well taken care of during the day while family members worked, by her loving caregivers, Lori Wolbert of Tionesta, and Marisol Padilla of Mount Dora, Florida. 

            She was born on July 24, 1952 in Oil City to the late Waldo and Mary (Bell) Haniwalt. 

            Sandra was a 1970 graduate of Cranberry High School. 

            On July 4, 1975, she married Craig Shaffer, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2012.

            Sandra spent most of her day cooking, canning, gardening, and taking care of her friends and family.  She enjoyed fishing, hunting, campfires, camping, and sitting on her porch swing.  She enjoyed spending time with Craig and her family as they spotted and counted deer.

             Sandra was loved by all and will be greatly remembered as 'Nana' to her six granddaughters, Mariah Moore, Laurianne Shaffer, Morgan Shaffer, Kali Moore, Kiarah White, and Katielynn Shaffer.  She is also survived by her two loving sons, Christopher Shaffer and his wife Betsy of Espyville, and Daniel Shaffer and his wife Stephanie of Mount Dora, Florida; a sister, Bonnie Smith and her husband Scott of Seneca; a brother, Waldo E. Haniwalt, Jr. of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. 

            She was preceded in death by her forever loved husband, Craig Shaffer; her parents, Waldo and Mary Haniwalt; and a grandson, Glenn Shaffer. 

            A private spreading of her cremated remains will be held in Tionesta at a later date.
