Ruth E. Warner

April 6, 1937 ~ July 16, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old


                Ruth E. Warner, 80, of Rockland, died at Sugar Creek Station in Franklin early Sunday morning, July 16, 2017.

                She was born in Oil City on April 6, 1937 to the late Jay and Vera (Nolan) Burch.

                She attended Cranberry Schools. 

                Mrs. Warner was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church and a former member of the Rockland United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed singing in the church choir. 

                Ruth enjoyed gardening, crocheting, working puzzles, playing cards, crafts, and spending time with her family. 

                She was a dedicated homemaker while raising her family.  She also worked as a cashier at the McDonald's in Cranberry for five years, until the time of her illness. 

                She was married in Oil City on March 31, 1956 to G. Theodore "Ted" Warner, and he survives. 

                Also surviving are four children:  Robert D. Warner, Sr. and his wife Michelle of Petrolia, Cheryl Shay and her husband Joseph of Washington state, Alan Warner of Petrolia, and Jeffrey Warner and his wife Deborah of Knox; twelve grandchildren: Robert Warner, Jr., Alicia Coulombe, Joshua Warner, Joey, Jacob, and Soren Shay, Justin and Tyler Warner, Benjamin and Claire Warner, and Michael and Jessica Warner; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

                Ruth is also survived by two sisters, Joann Banta of Waterford and Margaret "Peg" Jones of Centerville; two brothers, Jim Burch and his wife Dolly of Centerville and Donald Burch of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

                In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Michael Warner; a grandson, Tobias Shay; and three brothers, Bob, Bill, and Fred Burch. 

                Friends will be received Wednesday (July 19) from 2 - 4 and  7 - 9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday (July 20) in the Seneca United Methodist Church, 196 East State Road in Seneca.  Interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery in Kennerdell, Rockland Township. 

                In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial contribution to a charity of one's choice.
