Robert R. Harvanek

            Robert R. "Bob" Harvanek, 82, formerly of Cranberry, died Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017 at Clarion Healthcare and Rehab. 

            He was born in Pittsburgh on December 12, 1934 to the late William and Mayme Harvanek. 

            Mr. Harvanek was a member of the Van United Methodist Church.

            Bob enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, and spending time with his family. 

            He spent a number of years living in Florida, and worked for GTE in Miami and Port Charlotte, Hinkles and McCoy Phone Contractors, and also owned and operated his own lawn care service, R&S Enterprises.  He returned to Venango County in 1998.

            He was married in Greensburg on October 13, 1979 to Shirley F. (Tressler) Houck, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2011.

            He is survived by three children:  Dave Harvanek and his wife Carol of Ohio, Karen Braun and her husband Dave of Ohio, and Brian Harvanek and his wife Missy of Pittsburgh; three step-children: Jeff Houck and his wife Debra of Port Charlotte, Florida, Cindy Boocks and her husband Dick of Oil City, and Jennifer Dombrowsky and her husband Jason of Port Charlotte, Florida; his grandchildren include a very special granddaughter, Jayme Wagner and her husband Steve, Bo Houck and wife Melissa, Mike Boocks and wife Stacie, Jodi Burgdorfer and her husband Marty, Julie Burgdorfer and her husband Steve, Joey and Maverick Ranger, Nathan, Miranda, and Kendra Houck, Brian Harvanek and wife Sarah, Kelly, Kimberly and Michelle Harvanek, Scott Harvanek and wife Erin, Heidi Braun, and David Braun, Jr.; and great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Lee, and Kinsley Boocks, Nathan Houck, Landon and Dustin Burgdorfer, Nathan Houck, Amber Wagner, Brittany Leadbetter and husband Chase, Ava Kirkpatrick, Michael Angelini, and Emilee and Elyssa Drayer.

            Mr. Harvanek was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and several siblings. 

            There will be no visitation.  A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Thursday (Nov. 30th) at 11 a.m. in the Van United Methodist Church, 8540 Rte. 322 in Cranberry.  Rev. James Kimmel, church pastor, will officiate.  A luncheon will follow at the church. Private interment will be in the Rockland Cemetery, Kennerdell.
