Linda M. (Welms) Covey

December 21, 1941 ~ September 15, 2016 (age 74) 74 Years Old


                Linda M. (Welms) Covey, 74, of Oil City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, September 15, 2016. 

                She was born in Oil City on December 21, 1941 to the late Lester and Twila (Miller) Welms. 

                Linda was a proud 1960 graduate of Cranberry High School.

                She was married in March 1970 in Corry, to Reginald L. Covey, and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1996.

                As a lifelong lover of cats and animal rights, Linda was a supporter of the Humane Society and the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). 

                She was a dedicated and beloved mother, wife, and homemaker.  Linda enjoyed crafting, crocheting, searching Pinterest, winning at Bingo, anything historical, and reading romance novels.  She had a great sense of humor, and was quick to smile and give words of encouragement to all she met.   

                Linda will be deeply missed by her three loving children and eight grandchildren:  Gina L. Pederson and her husband Kem of Mayville, Wisconsin, Michelle K. Aversa and her husband Ray of Spartansburg, and Brett A. Covey and his wife Jennifer of Oil City; and her grandchildren: Steven Wig, Franklin Pederson, Chelsie, R.J., and Desiree Aversa, Mackenzie Hathaway, and Tanner and Carter Covey.  She is also survived by her sister, Dixie Gracy of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

                In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Welms of Oil City; her sister, Sandra Fox of Fertigs; and her much beloved niece, Deb Laughery of Union City. 

                At Linda's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private memorial ceremony for family will be held at a future date.

                The Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc. in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements. 

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main St., Seneca, PA  16346; or to Hile-Best Funeral Home, P.O. Box 245, Seneca, PA  16346, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
