Irving "Denny" Jack

November 30, 1927 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old


          Irving D. “Denny” Jack, 90, of Seneca, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. 

          He was born in Nickleville on November 30, 1927 to the late Judd and Awana (Davis) Jack.

          Mr. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. 

          He helped to organize the county's first roller hockey league in Seneca. 

          Denny enjoyed roller hockey, teaching people how to roller skate, boating, and hunting trips to his brother's ranch in Colorado.  He also held a pilot license and enjoyed flying. 

          He owned and operated the Seneca Roller Dome, owned the former Carriage House Restaurant & Lounge, operated bulldozer and backhoe, and retired from the Morrison Farm in Seneca. 

          He was first married to Sara (Greenawalt) Hagadone , and later to Maxine (Morrison) Kline; they both preceded him in death. 

          Denny is survived by his wife, Barbara R. (Shipwash) Jack of Seneca; five children: Deanna Roberts of Utica, Marilyn Winger and her husband Andy of Seneca, Denise Wahler and her husband Phillip of Erie, Donald Jack of Seneca, and Ronald Jack and his wife Kathy of Seneca;  three step-children: Darlene O'Toole and her husband Denny, Tim Smith and his wife Johnnie, and Piper Scofield and her husband Doug.

          He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and his special friends, Clayton and Connie Blauser and Scott Schreffler. 

          In addition to his parents and his two previous wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Karl Jack. 

          Visitation will be held Thursday (Jan. 11) from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Friday (Jan. 12) from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.  in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township.  The funeral service will be private, officiated by Rev. Dr. Darrell Knopp, pastor of Nickleville Presbyterian Church.  Full military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. 

          Interment will be in the Nickleville Cemetery, Richland Township, Venango County.
