Genevieve M. 'Jean' Weller

December 28, 1931 ~ November 15, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old


            Genevieve M. "Jean" Weller, 85, of Oil City, died at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehab. 

            She was born at home in Oil City on December 28, 1931 to the late Anthony and Genevieve Garbacz.

            She graduated from Assumption Catholic School in Oil City. 

            Jean was a longtime member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Oil City, where she was active in the Golden Agers Club, and helped with the Pierogi fundraisers. 

            Mrs. Weller was also a member of both the Pulaski and the P.N.A. Clubs in Oil City. 

            Jean enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles, and afternoon television soaps and talk shows. 

            Genevieve had a newspaper delivery route in Oil City for The Derrick for many years.  Above all, she enjoyed being a dedicated homemaker to her family. 

            She was married in Rocky Grove on December 31, 1969 to Donald F. Weller, Sr., and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2014.

            Surviving are two children: Donald F. Weller, Jr. and his companion Lisa Mook and her son, Levi, of Reno, and Toni Lee Weller of Durham, North Carolina; her godson, Jim Yashinski of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Grumling of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Yashinski; and three brothers, Clem, Walt, and Anthony Garbacz. 

            There will be no visitation.  A graveside interment service will be held Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Rte. 322 in Cranberry. 

            The Hile-Best Funeral Home in Seneca, Cranberry Township is completing funeral arrangements. 

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption BVM Church, c/o St. Stephen Rectory, 210 Reed St., Oil City, PA  16301.
